Research

Research exists to teach us from systems that have already paid for mistakes we have not made yet. It is evidence, not authority: current Forge behavior lives in docs/product/, docs/architecture/, and docs/design/. Important findings become ADRs, architecture rules, build-plan changes, and course lessons.

Start with the repo lessons summary, then follow the individual repo studies or the reference library.

When using an outside project as precedent, distinguish:

  • Observed source behavior — directly visible in docs/code/issues.
  • Forge inference — the lesson we choose to apply.
  • Forge decision — recorded in canonical docs/ADRs.

Comparable projects change quickly. Links were checked on 2026-09-10; re-check details before depending on a current provider/version-specific fact.

Forge is local-first. The docs are part of the product engineering system.
